BIMI Record Checker
Instantly verify your domain's BIMI TXT record and diagnose exactly what's missing for inbox logo display.
What is BIMI and Why Does It Matter?
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) is an open email standard that lets companies display their official logo next to email messages in supporting clients. When recipients see your logo before opening the email, it signals legitimacy, builds brand recognition, and reduces the chance of your email being dismissed as spam. Major providers including Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Apple Mail, and Fastmail support BIMI.
How BIMI Works: The DNS Record
BIMI is implemented as a DNS TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain.com. The record format is:
v=BIMI1; l=https://yourdomain.com/logo.svg; a=https://yourdomain.com/cert.pem
Three tags: v=BIMI1 identifies the version, l= points to your SVG Tiny PS logo over HTTPS, and a= points to your VMC certificate.
Prerequisites for BIMI
BIMI requires a valid DMARC policy of at least p=quarantine or p=reject, along with correctly configured DKIM and SPF. BIMI is the final layer on top of a solid email authentication foundation. Your SVG logo must conform to the SVG Tiny PS profile — standard SVGs from Figma or Illustrator typically fail validation.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does BIMI take to propagate?
DNS changes propagate within 1–48 hours. Once live, email providers pick up the BIMI record on their next authentication check cycle — from minutes to a few days depending on provider.
Can I use BIMI without a VMC?
Yes, but Gmail and Yahoo require the VMC to display your logo. Apple Mail may display without it. Omitting the a= tag means your logo won't appear in the two largest email clients.
Does BIMI improve deliverability?
Indirectly yes. BIMI requires strong authentication (DMARC p=quarantine+), which improves deliverability. Higher open rates from logo display signal positive engagement, further improving sender reputation.
